Ratite Sexing

This purchase is for laboratory DNA sexing of ratites (emu & ostrich) using a blood, feather, or eggshell membrane sample. No physical items are shipped to you.

After placing your order, you must complete the Sample Details Form for each bird you are testing. This form assigns your Sample IDs and ensures we can correctly match your samples to your results. Please complete this form before mailing your samples.

You may submit one of the following sample types per bird:

• Blood sample (preferred for strongest DNA signal)

• Freshly plucked feather (must be plucked — not fallen)

• Eggshell membrane (taken from the inner shell after hatching)

Once your samples are ready, you are responsible for mailing them to our lab. Instructions for collecting and preparing each sample type are provided on our website as well as in the downloadable PDF included with this product.

What you receive:

• DNA sexing for each sample purchased

• Testing performed using PCR in our laboratory

• Results uploaded directly to your customer account dashboard

• Email notification when your results are available

Important:

• Nothing is shipped to you.

• You must mail your samples to the lab for testing.

• The Sample Details Form must be completed before sending samples.
