This local working ranch, co-owned by Dr. Chad Wardrup and Dr. Jonathan Jones, who are also the proud owners of Serenity Plus Home Health, is dedicated to the conservation of endangered fowl species. Their mission is achieved through their meticulous selective breeding program, which ensures the genetic purity and diversity of rare birds. Visitors can support their cause by purchasing eggs and local hatchlings from stable populations. While not a traditional zoo, CJ’s Chicken Ranch occasionally welcomes local schools and educational organizations for enriching visits. Guests can encounter a variety of fascinating birds, including curious emus, exotic pheasants, unique chickens, endangered ducks, colorful turkeys, fantail pigeons, exquisitely postured peafowl and quail. They’ll also meet Nigerian Dwarf goats and Shetland Sheep. Be sure to meet the Ayam Ketawa, an Indonesian “laughing chicken,” the Sebastopol geese with their distinctive long, curly, and soft feathers, and the intriguing Dutch Owlbeard chicken. Hello! Here at Wild T's Homestead we are not NPIP certified...yet! But we've got our eyes on that golden egg. For now, we don't ship eggs or chickens- but if enough folks start clucking about it, we just might spread our wings. Our Indios come from a mix of GFF and RRA til our new babies are bigger, then we are moving into strictly RRA genetics. Of course, being a Texan, we like everything bigger and better. Including our chickens.
